Es ist das zweite Studio-Album von Vincenz Kokot, der als MY SISTER GRENADINE nun diese phantastische Doppel-CD veröffentlicht. Nach dem Debut «SHINE IN THE DARK», welches von der ZEIT 2008 zur Singer-Songwriter-Platte des Sommers erkoren wurde, gibt es auf der aktuellen Veröffentlichung zwei verschiedene Klangwelten: CD eins enthält acht akustische Songs, die mit Ukulele, Geige, Trompete und Glockenspiel arrangiert sind, auf CD zwei befinden sich acht weitere Tracks, die mit elektrischer Gitarre, Loops und Soundscapes komponiert wurden! GRIMOON - neues Album "SUPER 8" (Vö.: 23.07.10)
Das neue Album der italienisch-französischen Band Grimoon erscheint am 23.7.2008 auf Solaris Empire. Beeinflusst von Fellini, europäischem Film und der Athmosphäre von Venedig hat die Band ein phantastisches Album namens "Super 8" aufgenommen. Eine einzigartige Mischung aus Chanson, Folk und Western Rock ala Calexico. Im September wird die Band einige Konzerte in Deutschland spielen.
Grimoon - Tournesol
Bernhard Eder präsentiert sich auf der EP The Unexpected mit zwei brandneuen Songs, sowie Coverversionen von Puddle Of Mudd (Blurry), AC/DC (Thunderstruck) und – im Duett mit dem amerikanischen Singer/Songwriter Ian Fisher – I follow my heart von Velojet.
Der Titelsong Unexpected überrascht mit einem treibenden Schlagzeug- und Bassgroove, ein altes Piano gibt die Akkorde vor. In der Mitte des Songs fügt sich ein wunderbares Streicherarrangement ein, während die akustische Gitarre nur mehr in kurzen Momenten zu hören ist. In der Coda ertönt eine Trompete – erst vertraut, wie in einem Western, bis das Klischee zu einem wirren Klangbild aufbricht und der Song schließlich in das Knarren eines Basses mündet.
Der zweite neue Song Flowers broken, colours gone schließt beinahe nahtlos an das letzte Album Tales from the East Side an: zartes Fingerpicking und Bernhard Eder’s fragile Stimme tragen das Lied, und berühren den Hörer.
Bereits auf dem Debüt The Livingroom Session erschien mit Being Boring von den Pet Shop Boys eine ausnehmend gelungene Coverversion. Diesen Weg führt Bernhard Eder weiter: in seinen Interpretationen dekonstruiert er die Originale bis auf das Wesentliche, gibt ihnen seinen eigenen Klang, mit ihrem Ursprung verbindet sie nurmehr die Melodie.
Thunderstruck wird zur minimalistischen, experimentellen Ballade. Blurry lässt an die Kings Of Convenience oder Eliott Smith denken, in keinem Moment jedoch erinnert es an das Original von Puddle Of Mudd – man sollte Bernhard Eder dankbar dafür sein.
Mit I follow my heart der – ebenfalls aus Österreich stammenden – Velojet gelingt Bernhard Eder gemeinsam mit Ian Fisher ein weiterer Höhepunkt. Die beiden Musiker fordern sich bis zum Ende des Stücks immer weiter heraus und erzeugen hierbei eine Stimmung, die einen anderen Stimmakrobaten in Erinnerung ruft: Jeff Buckley in Grace.
Die äußerst gelungene und charmante EP weckt die Vorfreude auf das kommende Album (geplante VÖ im Herbst 2010), und reiht sich gleichzeitig als eigenständiges,
unverzichtbares Release in das Werk des österreichischen Songwriters.

New Giovanni Ferrario Tourdates with PJ Harvey and John Parish
PJ Harvey and John Parish will embark on aUKand European tour this April and May.
The tour is in support of their second collaborative album A Woman A Man Walked By which will be released by Island Records on March 30th. Beginning in the UK on April 15th in Brighton, the pair will be backed by a band comprising of Eric Drew Feldman, Giovanni Ferrario and Jean-Marc Butty and will play seven shows across the UK, with two London shows at the Shepherds Bush Empire on April 20th and 21st. They will then head to Europe for a string of dates; taking in Berlin, Paris & Milanalong the way.
The show will feature music from both the forthcoming album as well as their first collaboration, 1996's Dance Hall At Louse Point.

SUPERLEUTNANT - SCHÖNER ALS DIE WEISHEIT
The return of German lyrics to Indie Pop!!! Hooray! We can't believe it either, but thank your lucky stars Superleutnant have arrived. In the tradition of fabled German bands such as Tocotronic and Britta comes four self-confessed enemies of boredom. The Berlin-based quartet deliver 11 tracks packed with catchy riffs and melodies that you can shake your tambourine to. Oh yes indeed.

BERNHARD EDER - SINGLE OUT NOW
Bernhard Eder's new single "Now's the Time" is out now and has already been added to rotation at FM4 in Austria! The song is a beguiling mix of driving acoustic guitar, hand-claps, brushes-on-the-snare and a little bit of banjo to boot. The perfect song for a road-trip across the country, it is - of course - from the forthcoming album "Tales from the East Side" which will be out on October, 24th on Solaris Empire.

BERLINSONG - SONGS FROM THE FILM
To coincide with the cinema release of 'BerlinSong', Solaris Empire are proud to announce we are releasing the soundtrack to this beautiful film. 'BerlinSong' is a documentary about 6 songwriters who came from all over the globe to Berlin - for music. Film-maker Uli Schueppel asked Kat Frankie, Crazy for Jane, Einar Stenseng, Tommy Simatupang, Nathan Vanderpool and Fancie to write a song for Berlin, and captured the artists recording processes, concert preparations and their thoughts about their adopted home.
The CD release features the 6 songs penned by the artists, and covers a remarkable range: from the brooding ballad of Einar Stenseng, to Tommy Simatupang's inspired shout-it-out-loud chorus and Fancie's choir - comprised of the coolest schoolkids you'll ever meet. A 16-page booklet featuring photographs from award-winning Norwegian photographer Marie Sjøvold is also included.
'BerlinSong - songs from the film' will be available in stores from August 29 and online from October 2!
GIOVANNI FERRARIO TOURING IN DECEMBER
Plans are underway for Giovanni Ferrario to return to Germany for a December tour. This time round, Giovanni will be touring as a dynamic trio - Guitar, Bass and Drums. Whilst previously known for his band "Micevice", Giovanni's ground-breaking solo debut, "Headquarter Delirium" features an eclectic mix of vintage 60s sounds, Psychedelic rock and a touch of electronic noise. MY SISTER GRENADINE - SHINE IN THE DARK
Our July release is the debut solo work from Vincenz Kokot - singer and guitarist from Berlin post-rockers Polaroid Liquide. "Shine in the Dark" is a letter to Vincenz's imaginary (or not so imaginary) sister Grenadine. A minimal album, pure of heart and vision that features ukulele, driving blues guitar and a soft voice that sounds like the wind through the trees. A magical and suprising album about postcards and snapshots and the secrets within matchboxes. Release date 18. July 2008!

Our friends at Lieblingslied Records have created a rather unique compilation. On "Poptastic Conversation China", German bands sing their own songs in Chinese, and Chinese bands sing in German. MY HOME IS MY DISCO - KITTY SOLARIS IN THE STUDIO
Berlin's Queen of lo-fi rock, Kitty Solaris is back in the studio this month working on what is to be her 5th recorded offering, "My Home Is My Disco". (How brilliant is the name!) Fabian and Rocco at Popshutz Studio in Berlin are on engineering duties, with the kind assistance of Holger Müller - one of Berlin's finest guitar players - as well as super-producer Gordon Raphael (he's the fellow that produced the Strokes first album). Rumour has it that the title track is perfect for dancing like a crazy person in your living room when no one is watching. The album is scheduled for release later this year. How will we ever wait that long...?!!

GIOVANNI FERRARIO - HEADQUARTER DELIRIUM
Solaris Empire is proud to announce the release of Giovanni Ferrario's solo debut! For those who don't know - Giovanni is a cult figure in the Italian Underground scene. While better known for his work with his band Micevice, as well as being PJ Harvey's current Ax-man, 'Headquarter Delirium' is a force to be reckoned with. A homage to the sounds of the 60s and 70s, 'Headquarter Delirium' is a mix of psychedelic rock, electronic experimentation and classic songwriting. The release date is set for 25th April 2008.
